Photo Tips

Your photos are the most important aspect of your announcements.  Please take a minute to read our photo tips.  I hope you will find the advice helpful.

  • If you're using a digital camera, please take off the date stamp and set the camera to the highest resolution.
  • Hold the camera steady.  Many photos are simply too blurry.  Avoid blurry photos by holding the camera with both hands..and relax.
  • Natural light is best.  Try and find a room in your house that gets good light.
  • Avoid busy clothing or backgrounds.  They take attention away from the baby.  Try using a plain colored blanket behind the baby.
  • Take lots of shots.  Candid photos are great.  Pictures of babies yawning, smiling, and of their tiny hands and feet are precious.
  • Get up close, but not too close and try and get at their eye level.  Pictures taken from too far away will not work as well.

  • If you're scanning pictures, please make sure your scanner isn't dusty so it doesn't transfer onto the image.  Scan at a resolution of at least 300 dpi, or higher.
  • Please don't crop or edit your photos.  This is included at no extra charge.
  • If a photo is blurry or grainy, we can't fix it.  If a photo won't work in the announcement, I will let you know.

I can edit your photos in many ways.  Removing red eye, lightening photos and removing minor blemishes isn't a problem.  I can also convert your photos to black and white, sepia, or black and white with color accents.  There is no extra charge for this!  Many other companies tack on extra fees, I include this service for you.

Here are some examples of photos that were edited:

In the photos below, you can see the first one has prominent red eye and the baby has blemishes on her cheeks.  In the second picture, the red eye and the blemishes are removed.  The photo was also sharpened.

Below you'll notice the first picture is very dark.  In the second one it has been lightened and looks much nicer.

Below is a photo that was converted from color to black and white.

Below is the conversion to sepia.

This is an example of a black and white photo with color accents.  Notice how in the second picture, only his cap and gloves remain in color, and the rest is black and white.
